Our Approach to Surrogate Compensation

Tandem was founded by an intended parent who deeply understands how much a gestational carrier gives. Our compensation philosophy is:

  • Transparent: No hidden surprises or confusing breakdowns.
  • Fair: Competitive with top agencies in surrogacy-friendly states.
  • Respectful: Designed to honor your time, your body, and your family.
  • Supportive: You’ll always know what to expect before you commit.

Your journey deserves care that goes beyond a checklist. We make sure you feel appreciated emotionally, financially, and personally.

Base Surrogate Compensation

Every surrogacy journey is unique, and compensation varies based on experience, location, and clinic requirements. Tandem is committed to offering competitive surrogate pay while maintaining ethical standards and transparency.

Most gestational carriers with Tandem receive:

  • First-time surrogates: $45,000–$60,000+
  • Base compensation is paid in monthly installments once pregnancy is confirmed

This base amount reflects the responsibility, time, and commitment involved in carrying a pregnancy for another family.

Additional Benefits & Allowances

Your compensation includes more than a base amount. Tandem ensures surrogates are fully supported with allowances designed to cover the realities of pregnancy and the time you give.

Monthly Allowance

Covers pregnancy-related expenses such as mileage, childcare, and small daily needs.

Maternity Clothing Allowance

Maternity Clothing Allowance provided once pregnancy is confirmed and reaches the second trimester.

Embryo Transfer Compensation

A flat amount to recognize the time, travel, and medication commitment involved.

Travel Expenses

All travel required for medical appointments or the embryo transfer is fully covered, including airfare, hotel, and meals when applicable.

Medical & Insurance Costs

The intended parents cover all medical bills related to the surrogacy, including insurance premiums if a surrogate-friendly plan is required.

Lost Wages If you need to miss

If you need to miss work for appointments, bed rest, or delivery, lost wages for you (and your partner, if applicable) are covered.
